About Me

Hey, I’m Jakob,
an 18-year-old solo sailor from Austria. I first came in touch with sailing when I was 6 years old through my dad who sailed a small catamaran alone when he was young. Soon I started reading books about circumnavigators without really understanding most of it. But I was fascinated by that thing called sailing. When my family and I were on vacation on a small island I spent hours in the island’s little harbor mesmerized by the beauty of the sailboats moored there. I couldn’t help but imagine what it would be like to set out on the open ocean.

Unfortunately with sailing comes an unpleasant observation: The pollution of our environment, especially the oceans. Now I aim to sail solo around the world as the youngest German-speaking sailor and raise awareness about ocean pollution through the “Voyage for the Voiceless” Campaign.
